no power tools required

I Kings 6:7 In building the temple, only blocks dressed at the quarry were used, and no hammer, chisel or any other iron tool was heard at the temple site while it was being built.

During the seven years of the building of the temple nothing was heard at the work sight louder than the thud of stones being placed and the voices of workers. Can you imagine that? Listen.

Last week my neighbor had his roof replaced- there was no escaping the noise. Every week the lawn service trucks and trailers show up in my neighborhood- it sounds like a military invasion- "the Marines have landed!"

God cares about the details. His instructions are specific and careful. They bring life and favor.

God tells Solomon the point of all the minutia. Solomon probably already gets it-He's very wise. So God lays it out for us, "As for this temple you are building, if you follow my decrees, carry out my regulations and keep all my commands and obey them, I will fulfill through you the promise I gave to David your father (v.12)."
Obedience gets more and more palatable as I travel farther with my Lord Jesus. I hope one day to swallow it down like gelato!
